How pets work in AION 2
Pets in AION 2 are mounts: you can ride any of them around the world. But what matters most is the soul collection. Monsters drop souls of their species, and once you have enough, the pet appears in your Pets window. Then you level it up to 3 with more souls.

The game shows progress inside the current level: «13/25» means 12 more souls to level 2. Each pet grants a small bonus, and pets of one family together build up its Genus Insight — see the separate guide: Genus Insight.
Pet families
All pets belong to five families. The family decides which Soul Crystal you need for Genus Insight and which Pet Soul Chest works.

What pets give: bonuses by level
Each family has its own set of stats. Every pet you collect grants its family bonus, and the bonus grows with the pet's level. This is an owned effect: it always works, even when you ride another pet or walk.

One pet's bonus is small, but there are hundreds of pets. That makes the collection a real source of power, and level 3 adds a main stat (Might, Precision, Dexterity or Constitution) that the first two levels do not have.

The game counts how many different pets you own and pays rewards along the way — duplicate souls do not count.

All four titles together give +2.5% Move Speed for good. Six more titles come from Genus Insight, including Unbound by Genus — one of the strongest offensive PvE titles. The full list is in Titles.
Where to farm pet souls
A soul drops from a monster of the same species: kill a Krall Laborer, get a Krall Laborer soul. So pet farming means finding the right monsters.

Tracking 200 pets: TeamMate
Nobody can keep the progress of 200 pets in their head: each has its own counter, monsters and zone. That is what the Pets window in TeamMate is for.

Pet tracking is a TeamMate PRO feature. The free DPS meter works without a key.

How many pets are in AION 2?
AION 2 Global has 207 pets: 200 are collected in the world from monster souls, 7 Special pets come from shops and events.
What do pets give?
Every pet grants its family bonus: Cogni — HP, Critical Hit and Might; Natura — Stamina, Critical Hit Resist and Precision; Fera — mount speed, Accuracy Bonus and Dexterity; Varian — lower mount sprint Stamina cost, Evasion Bonus and Constitution. The bonus grows up to level 3 and works even when you are not riding the pet.
How do I transform into a pet?
Empathy Candy transforms you into your equipped pet. You get 10 candies for every 50 pet species collected. Special pets cannot be used for transformation.
How many souls does a pet need?
5 souls to unlock a pet, 25 for level 2 and 75 for level 3. 105 souls per pet in total.
Why don't I get souls?
A soul drops only from monsters of the same species. Check in our database or in TeamMate which monsters give souls for the pet you want: similar-looking monsters can be different species.
Where can I see where souls come from?
Every pet in the Pets section lists its monsters. TeamMate shows the same right in the game, with an «On map» button.
Summary
